All-Centennial Conference Team
LANCASTER, Pa. – Six members of the Gettysburg College men's soccer team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) Team, it was announced Wednesday.
Senior midfielder
Jonathan Molina (Adelphi, Md./Dematha Catholic) and junior forward
Connor Fife (Newtown, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) garnered first-team honors, while junior midfielder
Connor O'Donnell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and sophomore defender
Fritz Reiter (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) landed second-team accolades. Junior forward
Jack Carroll (Leonia, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and freshman defender
Nur Adhikarie (Cape Town, South Africa/Taft School) collected honorable mention status.
In addition, sophomore goalkeeper
Kevin Muhic (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. He has started in all 20 games between the pipes with a 1.17 goals-against average, 73 saves, and a save percentage of 0.753. He currently ranks sixth in most wins in a season with 13 and third in games played (20) as a goalkeeper.
Gettysburg, coming off a 13-5-2 record (5-3-1 CC), captured the program's most All-Centennial Conference selections since the 2016 team also had six.
Fife, who started in 16 of 19 games, registered his first all-conference honor after having a stellar, career-high season. He leads the Bullets and ranks second in the conference with 26 points (12 goals, two assists). The junior collected his first career hat trick against Salisbury University, becoming the second player in four years to achieve the accomplishment. The following week, he was honored as the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 11-17). He scored at least one goal in 12 of 19 games played and notched four game-winners. He currently ranks tied for tenth in single-season history with 12 goals.
Molina earned his second career all-conference nod after landing second-team in 2019. The senior captain set a career-high eight points (two goals, four assists) in 16 games while starting in 15. He accumulated his first goal in the 3-1 win at Lycoming College and in the 4-0 victory against Dickinson College. Molina also dished two assists in the 3-1 win against Salisbury University, which marked the second time he achieved that in his career. He has been an integral part of the Bullets midfield since his first year, appearing in 39 games and starting 35.
O'Donnell also claimed his second career all-conference recognition after collecting honorable mention in 2019. The junior posted one goal and eight assists for 10 points in 14 games while starting 13. He tied a school record with three assists in the 6-2 win against Greensboro College and became the first player since
Henry Smith '17 to accomplish the feat. In 33 games, he has notched 14 assists.
Reiter captured his first all-conference citation as a defender in his first collegiate season. The sophomore certainly made an impact as he started all 20 games to help the backline to a 1.17 goals-against average, five shutouts, and held eight additional opponents to one goal, with a pair of those coming against nationally-ranked teams. Reiter handed out his first assist at Lycoming and scored his first goal in the 4-0 shutout against Dickinson College.
Carroll displayed an outstanding career-high season to notch his first all-conference honor. The junior forward started in 19 games and ranks second behind Fife in points on the team with 20 (nine goals, two assists). He posted three career two-goal performances one against Stevenson University, Susquehanna University, and No. 25 Johns Hopkins University, which occurred in the semifinals of the conference tournament. In the opening round of the conference playoffs, Carroll netted the game-winning goal in the 93rd minute to lift Gettysburg past Swarthmore. This season, he also accrued a two-assist performance against Dickinson, which marked the first of his career.
Adhikarie appeared in 16 games and started 11 as a defender for the Bullets this season. Like Reiter, Adhikarie helped the backline to a 1.17 goals-against average, five shutouts, and held a handful of opponents to one goal, which includes a nationally ranked team. He added to the scoring column this season as he recorded his first goal and game-winner against Ursinus College.
Gettysburg has been red-hot on the offensive end this season as the team is fifth in single-season history in points (138), goals (47), and assists (44).
The Bullets have posted their second 13-win season under the direction of head coach
Mark Mettrick. The Orange and Blue also earned their fourth consecutive trip to the conference tournament and appeared in the finals for the first time since 2007. Throughout the season, Gettysburg earned a ranking in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Division III Region V and earned a spot in all four of the NCAA Division III Region V polls. The Bullets season will continue to march on as they received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second straight season. They will be playing Kean University in the first round on Friday night in Cortland, N.Y.
