BALTIMORE, Md. – Gettysburg is ranked 10th in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division III preseason poll, released recently.

The Bullets enter the 2023 season off a 14-8 season in 2022 and run to the NCAA Div. III quarterfinals. Gettysburg compiled a 6-2 Centennial Conference (CC) season and advanced to the conference title game, falling to Dickinson 10-9 in overtime – a loss avenged a week later in the NCAA tournament.

Defending national champions RIT lead the preseason balloting.

Peter Toner enters his second season at the helm of the program, looking to build on the team's success in his debut campaign.

The Bullets return five all-conference performers this season, including Zack Puckhaber (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac), who garnered first-team accolades in 2022. George Raymond (Darien, Conn./Suffield Academy), a second-teamer last year, returns after leading the team in scoring with 77 points on 43 goals and 34 assists. In total, four of the top five scorers from a season ago return in 2023.

Andy Marquet (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) captured second-team All-CC honors as a rookie and returns to anchor the defense. He had a team-high 31 caused turnovers to go with 43 ground balls.

Kieran Ward (Malvern, Pa./Malvern Prep) and Michael Zima (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) also return after all-conference seasons in 2022.

The Gettysburg 2023 season features seven contests against teams also in the preseason top 20, including the annual showdown against preseason No. 6 Salisbury on Feb. 25 in Gettysburg and a battle at No. 7 York (Pa.) on Apr. 5.

The Bullets open the season at home against DeSales on Saturday, Feb. 18. Game time is 1 p.m.
