SPARKS, Md. – Four members of the Gettysburg men's lacrosse team have been named to the USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America team, released on Wednesday.
Frank Barbera (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) earned third-team honors while
Jack Dunleavy (New Providence, N.J./Seton Hall Prep),
Will Hedley (Charlotte, N.C./The Hotchkiss School [Conn.]) and
Andy Marquet (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) were tabbed honorable mention.
Barbera, a senior defender, claimed makes his second appearance on the All-America team after being a second-team nod in 2024. He was a first-team All-CC honors for the third straight year. Starting all 19 games, he is third on the team with 49 ground balls and fourth with 19 caused turnovers. He has also scored two goals and added two assists, including two helpers against Washington (Md.) on Apr. 19. He picked up three or more ground balls in 11 games and had three caused turnovers to go with four ground balls against Ursinus on Apr. 12.
Dunleavy, a senior attacker, earned his first All-America nod after claiming his second straight first-team all-conference accolade. Starting all 19 games, he leads the team with 64 points. He leads the team with 31 assists and is second on the team with 33 goals. He has also added 16 ground balls and two caused turnovers. He has six games this season with five or more points and eight multi-goal games eight games. He has scored four goals in three games.
Hedley, a junior long-stick midfielder, claims his second straight honorable mention All-America nod. He was named first-team all-conference for the second straight year. Playing all 19 games with six starts, he has picked up a team-high 61 ground balls and is second on the team with 26 caused turnovers. The long-pole also contributed eight goals and six assists to the offense. At Washington and Lee on Mar. 8, he recorded two goals and an assist. He had four games with five or more ground balls.
Marquet, a senior defender, earned his first All-America honor after claiming his first first-team all-conference nod. Starting all 18 games in which he played, he leads the team with 28 caused turnovers. He has also picked up 49 ground balls and has three goals and one assist. He had seven ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 13-12 win over Dickinson on Apr. 9. He has five games with four or more ground balls and three games with three or more caused turnovers.
The Bullets (15-4, 8-0 CC) advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA and take on top-ranked Tufts on Saturday after defeating Washington and Lee 14-12 on Sunday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
