Five Gettysburg players earn USILA All-America honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Five members of the Gettysburg men's lacrosse team have been named to the Blatant Lacrosse Division III All-America team, announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on Thursday.

Frank Barbera (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and Will Hedley (Charlotte, N.C./The Hotchkiss School [Conn.]) earned third-team honors while Jack Dunleavy (New Providence, N.J./Seton Hall Prep), Ethan Kessler (Ridgefield, Conn./Millbrook School) and Andy Marquet (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) were tabbed honorable mention.

Barbera, a senior defender, makes his third appearance on the All-America team after being tabbed honorable mention in 2023 and 2024. He was a first-team All-CC honors for the third straight year. Starting all 20 games, he was third on the team with 52 ground balls and third with 23 caused turnovers. He also scored two goals and added two assists, including two helpers against Washington (Md.) on Apr. 19. He picked up three or more ground balls in 12 games and had three caused turnovers to go with four ground balls against Ursinus on Apr. 12.

Dunleavy, a senior attacker, earned his second straight honorable mention All-America nod after claiming his second straight first-team all-conference accolade. Starting all 20 games, he led the team with 72 points. He paced the team with 36 assists and was second on the team with 36 goals. He also added 20 ground balls and three caused turnovers. He had seven games this season with five or more points and nine multi-goal games eight games. He scored four goals in three games.

Hedley, a junior long-stick midfielder, claims his second All-America nod. He was named first-team all-conference for the second straight year. Playing all 20 games with six starts, he picked up a team-high 62 ground balls and was second on the team with 26 caused turnovers. The long-pole also contributed eight goals and six assists to the offense. At Washington and Lee on Mar. 8, he recorded two goals and an assist. He had four games with five or more ground balls.

Kessler, a junior attacker, is making his first appearance on the All-American team after claiming his first all-conference nod. He has appeared in all 20 games with 14 starts. He ranked third on the team with 31 goals and 43 points. He had a team-best five game-winning goals and tallied four man-up goals. He recorded four goals at Franklin & Marshall on Apr. 26, including the overtime game-winner.

Marquet, a senior defender, earned his first All-America honor after claiming his first first-team all-conference nod and fourth all-confernece honor. Starting all 19 games in which he played, he led the team with 29 caused turnovers. He also picked up 51 ground balls and had three goals and one assist. He had seven ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 13-12 win over Dickinson on Apr. 9. He had five games with four or more ground balls and three games with three or more caused turnovers.

The Bullets concluded the season with an overall record of 15-4 (8-0 CC), advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament before falling to top-ranked Tufts on Saturday.
