Gettysburg College Athletics

Today's Centennial Conference (CC) match marks the 42nd all-time meeting between Gettysburg (13-4, 1-1 CC) and Haverford (5-9, 1-0 CC) in a series that dates back to 1987. The Bullets lead the all-time series 26-15 but the Fords have won five of the last eight matchups. It is also the sixth all-time meeting between Gettysburg and DeSales (7-9) in a series that dates back to 1993. The Bullets have won all five previous matchups.

WHEN LAST WE MET: Gettysburg battled Haverford to three close but came away with a 3-0 win last season. Alycen Radolovic led the Bullets with 11 kills. Izabela Potocnjak had seven kills for the Fords. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

WHEN LAST WE MET II: After dropping the first set, Gettysburg battled to a second set victory and won the next two by more than 10 points each to defeat DeSales 3-1 last season. Kylie Ulrich led the Bullets in kills with 16. Zanze Kuba-McCoy tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs. Madison Swift had nine kills for DeSales. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

LAST TIME OUT: After dropping the first set, Gettysburg battled back to a second-set victory but ultimately Johns Hopkins claimed the next two and earned a 3-1 win on Wednesday. Olivia Biggs put up six blocks to go with two kills and two digs. Mary Huegel contributed seven blocks and six kills. Simrin Carlsen led the Blue Jays' attack with 18 kills. HEAD OF THE CLASS: Kylie Ulrich and Chelsea O'Leary swept CC Players of the Week honors for last week. Ulrich earned the Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time while O'Leary snagged the Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season. Ulrich averaged 4.43 kills per set over her the seven-set week. She totaled 31 kills, including 17 in a 3-0 win over Penn State-Altoona on Wednesday before adding 14 in a 3-1 conference-opening win at Muhlenberg. She also contributed seven blocks on the week. O'Leary averaged 6.14 digs per set in the two matches last week. After 16 digs in a 3-0 win over Penn State-Altoona on Wednesday, she put up a season-high 27 in a 3-1 win at Muhlenberg in the conference opener on Friday night.

KNOCKIN' ‘EM DOWN: Kylie Ulrich has recorded nine or more kills in each of the last five matches for the Bullets, which included a career-best 17 knockdowns against Penn State-Altoona last Wednesday. She currently paces the team with 144 kills. Her 2.94 kills per set ranks seventh in the conference.

LAST TIME OUT: Haverford swept its Centennial Conference opener from Dickinson on Wednesday night with three close wins, 27-25, 25-23, 25-22. Kira Chaney had 15 kills on 42 total swings, adding four service aces. Haverford finished the night with 14 aces as a team. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

SIX PACK: Haverford enters the weekend with six players on the roster with 63 or more kills this season. No player has more than 118 (Claire Jordan). Taylor Jones is hitting a team-best .340 on the year, putting down 90 kills on 215 swings with just 17 errors. Kira Chaney (80), Eliana Brown (73), Izabela Potocnjak (65) and Gia Frank (63) round out the top attackers for the Fords.

LAST TIME OUT: DeSales dropped its first conference match of the season falling at Lebanon Valley College 3-1 on Wednesday. Samantha Worontzoff led the Bulldogs with 15 kills, hitting .423, and added eight blocks. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

TRIPLE THREAT: DeSales enters the weekend with three players with more than 100 kills on the season. Delanie Zohler paces the team with 126 kills in 50 sets played for a team-best 2.52 kills per set. Paige Lewis and Samantha Worontzoff round out the trio with 120 and 113 knockdowns, respectively. Worontzoff has reached double-digit kills in each of the last three matches and has six matches with nine or more kills since Sept. 20.
