Gettysburg College Athletics

Tonight's non-conference game marks the 16th meeting between Gettysburg (0-0-1) and York (Pa.) (0-2) in a series that dates back to 2006. The Bullets lead the all-time series 10-3-2, including wins in the last seven matchups. The last Spartan victory came by a 1-0 margin in double overtime in 2012.

LAST TIME OUT: Gettysburg controlled play for much of the middle 50 minutes of the game but had to settle for a 1-all draw with Goucher to open the season on Friday. Morgan Hobson led the Bullets with her first collegiate goal. Carly Stevens netted the equalizer for the Gophers. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

REMEMBER YOUR FIRST: Senior Morgan Hobson notched her first collegiate goal in Friday night's opener. In the 64th minute, she made a move around her defender to the top-right corner of the box before launching a shot towards the upper-left corner inside the back post. The ball bounced off the head of a defender and redirected inside the near post for the game's first tally. 

CONTROLLING FACTOR: The Bullets carried play for the better part of Friday night's opener. Despite finding the back of the net just once, Gettysburg peppered the Gopher goal with 19 shots while the defense limited Goucher to just three attempts. 

LAST TIME OUT: York dropped a 1-0 home game to Ithaca on Sunday. The lone goal in the defensive contest was scored in the 25th minute when Ally Stanton and Sarah Sinnott connected on a centered cross that barely went past the outstretched arms of the Spartan goalie. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR: The Spartans have opened the season with a pair of one-goal defeats at home. Last season, York went 6-2 in games decided by one goal and also had four ties. Teresa Gonzalez has taken over as the starting keeper for the Spartans and recorded 19 saves in the first two games of the year while allowing just three goals but the offense has generated just one goal on 14 shots in the opening 180 minutes of the season.

CENTENNIAL ASSOCIATE?: Four of the first five games on the Spartans' schedule this fall are against Centennial Conference opponents. After dropping a 2-1 decision to Franklin & Marshall in Friday's opener, York travels to Gettysburg tonight before hosting McDaniel on Saturday and heading to Carlisle to take on Dickinson next Wednesday.
