THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg dropped a pair of close dual matches in its home and conference opener. The Bullets' evening started with a 22-21 setback to Muhlenberg before Oneonta topped Gettysburg, 25-22.

THE LEADERS
Gavin Pascoe (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) led the Bullets with a pair of win that included opening the conference match with his team's lone pin of the match.

FOR THE FOES
• Paul Parise led the Mules with a first-period fall at 197.
• Carson LiCastri recorded a late pin that clinched the match for the Red Dragons.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Against Muhlenberg, Gavin Pascoe opened the match with a turn and pin midway through the third period, staking Gettysburg to a 6-0 lead with his 5-minute, 56-second fall. Justin Richey (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) got a late takedown and was able to finish on top to earn a major decision 14-6 and push the Bullet lead to 10-0. Tysen Derenberger got Muhlenberg on the board with a 13-3 major decision at 174 before Ryan Fairchild got his advantage time point to earn an 11-3 major decision at 184 and close the deficit to 10-8. Paul Parise then turned a takedown into a nearly immediate pin for a third straight Mule victory and 14-10 lead. A second-period takedown was the difference in Andrew Franklin's 4-2 win at heavyweight but the Mules were deducted a team point following the bout for a taunt to make it a 16-10 team score.
• Joey Lamparelli earned a pin midway through the second period for a 22-10 Mule lead. Brendan Callahan (Woolwich Twp., N.J./Kingsway Regional) responded by holding off a late charge for a 6-3 win at 133 to keep the match alive. Luke Kowalski (Derwood, Md./St. John's College) then took a 10-3 win at 141, narrowly missing the major decision after a late escape to make it a six-point deficit heading to the final bout. Ethan Composto (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) took a 15-2 lead into the middle of the third period but a second stall warning awarded Composto two points and the technical fall at the 5:58 mark for the one-point final margin.
• Against Oneonta, Cameron Hinchcliff won by forfeit at 125 and Danny Poggi added a 10-4 win at 133 for a 9-0 lead in the match. Kowalski got a pin late in the second period to close the deficit to 9-6 before Composto notched his second technical fall of the night, winning 15-0 just 38 seconds into the second period for an 11-9 edge in the match. Pascoe and Richey recorded back-to-back major decisions with Pascoe winning 11-0 at 157 and Richey winning 11-2 at 165 to take a 19-9 lead in the match.
• Kenneth Sauer snapped the run four straight Gettysburg wins with a technical fall in the final 30 seconds of his match at 174, earning a takedown and nearfall for the 18-2 match termination and closing the margin to 19-14. Jack Ryan's advantage point made it back-to-back technical falls for the Red Dragons with his 18-3 win at 184 to tie the match at 19-all. After the 197 bout closed to within 11-10 after an escape, Carson LiCastri responded with a takedown and pin with 44 seconds remaining for a six-point lead entering the final bout. Simon Taylor (Alexandria, Va./Woodbury Forest School) rounded out the match with a 5-2 win.
