Taylor secures Gettysburg win at Shippensburg

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg won the first four bouts of the match but needed a win in the final match to secure a 21-17 win over Shippensburg.

THE LEADERS
Simon Taylor (Alexandria, Va./Woodbury Forest School) secured the win for the Bullets, earning a takedown midway through the first sudden victory period for a 4-1 victory at heavyweight.

FOR THE FOES
• Kyle Everly led the Raiders with a third-period fall at 157.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Noah Hinkle (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) opened the night with an 11-4 win at 125 to stake Gettysburg to a 3-0 lead. Kyle Collins (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) made it 7-0 with a 13-4 major decision at 133. A Brendan Callahan (Woolrich Twp., N.J./Kingsway Regional) 18-2 technical fall at 141 and Ethan Composto (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) 11-4 decision at 149 stretched the lead to 15-0 with six bouts remaining.
• After Kyler Everly's pin, Anthony DeAngelo closed the deficit to 15-9 with a 14-7 win at 165.
Justin Richey (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley), however, responded with a 10-4 of his own at 174 to make it an 18-9 score.
• Owen Koch closed the deficit to four with a 23-6 technical fall at 184 and Diesel Koser pushed the match outcome to the final bout, edging out a 1-0 win at 197.
Simon Taylor and Connor Livingston each only managed an escape during regulation at heavyweight, sending to the bout to sudden victory deadlocked at 1-all. Midway through the two-minute extra session, Taylor worked a takedown for the winner.
