THE REST OF THE STORY
• Just over 28 minutes into the game,
Abigail Fitzsimmons (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) played a ball through the defense that
Kylee Gust (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Marion) ran onto down the right wing and – with a drawn-out keeper – slid the ball into the lower-right corner of the net for a 1-0 Gettysburg lead.
• In the 74th minute, Colleen Ferrarese lofted a free kick into the box. The ball got a high hop over the primary offensive option as the Gettysburg defense before Emerson McDonald was able to get a head to it for the equalizer. Nearly eight minutes later, Kate Boujoukos played a short pass to Lillian Williams, who fired from the top-left corner of the box and lofted it over everyone into the far top corner for the 2-1 lead. Gettysburg had one last gasp to force overtime in the final minute but a free-kick shot from the top of the box was blocked.
