Gettysburg had 11 wrestlers place in the top six of their respective weight classes to lead the way to a second-place finish at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational. The Bullets finished with 138 points.
THE LEADERS

Brendan Callahan (Woolrich Twp., N.J./Kingsway Regional) was one of three Bullets to place second. His day a 141 started with a 2-1 decision before earning a 16-5 major. He then added a 7-3 win in the semifinals before Fairmont's Colton Stoneking earned a 9-6 victory in the title bout.

Jake Mitchell (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) placed second at 149. After a 19-3 technical fall in his first match, Mitchell downed Thiel's Jonathan Bissell 10-7 and notched a first-period pin in the semifinals. In the championship bout, Easton Broxterman (Army Prep) won by technical fall, 15-0.

Simon Taylor (Alexandria, Va./Woodbury Forest School) was second at heavyweight. After a 9-0 major decision, he recorded a pin midway through the first period and a 7-1 victory in the semifinals. Charles Weidman then won by fall at the end of the first period.

THE REST OF THE STORY

Torey Falkinburg (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) and
Peyton Reese (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) finished third and fourth, respectively, at 133 and met in the third-place bout. Falkinburg's day started with a bye before recording a 4-minute, 3-second pin. He then added a 5-1 win over Fairmont's Noah Hess before falling in the semifinals 2-0 to Mason Drew (Alfred State). Reese also started with a bye before getting a pin in 6:08 in the second round. He then added a 5-1 win over Lycoming's Luek Magnani before being pinned in the first period by eventual champion Isaac Arevalo (Army Prep). Falkinburg defeated Reese 6-1 in the third-place match.

Gavin Pascoe (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) had a 19-2 technical fall and a final-minute pin in his first two bouts of the day at 157. He then fell to the consolation bracket by way of a 5-2 decision to Anthony Tresch (Army Prep). Pascoe then won the third-place bout by technical fall, 24-3.

Justin Richey (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and
Connor Hoefling (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) both advanced to the semifinals before falling to the consolation bracket and third-place bout, where the double forfeited as to no wrestler each other. Richey had a 1-minute, 7-second pin to start the day before an 18-3 technical fall moved him into the semifinals, where he was edged by Behrend's Steffan Lynch, 5-4. Hoefling had back-to-back pins – one in the second period and one in the first – to make it to the semis, where he fell to eventual champion Mason Savitz (Behrend).
• A similar thing happened at 174 when
Ethan Composto (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) and
Ryan Gallagher (Fountainville, Pa./Pennridge) advanced to the semifinals, lost and then double-forfeited the third-place bout. Gallagher won by fall in 1:28 and then earned an injury default win before falling by technical fall 15-0 to eventual champion Nolen Zeigler (Lycoming). Composto won by major decision 10-2 and decision 5-1 before falling, 4-1.

Phil Nave (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.) finished fifth at 197. He recorded a pin 32 seconds into the second period before falling 6-3 to eventual champion Ivan Neal (Lycoming). Nave then picked up two first-period pins to advance to the fifth-place bout, where he won, 15-1.
