Steel sets new Program Record at Alvernia PLEX Shootout

THE SKINNY STORY
The Bullets competed in the Alvernia PLEX Shootout finishing with six top-three finishes and two top-10 all-time finishers.

THE LEADERS
  • Eli Steel (York, Pa., York Country Day School) led the Bullets with two first place finishes in the long jump and triple jump. He set a new program record in the triple jump with a distance of 14.33 meters which also was a season-best and Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying leap. Steel added another season-best and CC-qualifying distance in the long jump with a leap of 6.70 meters which ranks third in program history.
  • Maddon McNicholas (Morgantown, Pa., Twin Valley) placed second in the 3,000 with a season-best and CC-qualifying time of 9:02.78.
  • Liam O'Meara (Ridgewood, N.J., Ridgewood) finished second in pole vault with a CC-qualifying height of 4.35 meters.
  • Mark Overlander (Marietta, Pa., Donegal) came in third in pole vault with a season-best and CC-qualfiying vault of 4.20 meters.
  • Jack Regentin (Gettysburg, Pa., Biglerville) competed in shot put finishing third with a season-best and CC-qualifying toss of 14.88 meters.
FOR THE FOES
  • It was a non-scoring meet.
THE REST OF THE STORY
  • Andres Nunez-Castaneda (Morrisville, Pa., Notre Dame) placed seventh in the 200 with a season-best and CC-qualifying time of 23.38 seconds.
  • David Magill (Mamaroneck, N.Y., Rye Neck) finished eighth in the 800 with a season-best and CC-qualifying time of 2:02.00.
  • John Murphy IV (Grantham, N.H., Northfield Mount Hermon School) came in 11th in the 5,000 with a season-best and CC-qualifying time of 16:20.28.
  • Joaquin Lalama (Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador, Colegio Americano de Quito) competed in triple jump placing 16th with a season-best and CC-qualifying leap of 11.38 meters. He also finished 26th in high jump with a season-best height 1.60 meters.
  • Andrew Oshetski (Freeport, Maine, Freeport) placed 19th in shot put with a season-best and CC-qualifying toss of 12.28 meters. He also came in 31st in weight throw with another season-best of 10.48 meters.
  • Rouri Takahashi (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan, Wilbraham & Monson Academy) finished 29th in the 200 with a season-best and CC-qualifying time of 24.21 seconds.
  • Trey Hunter (Reinholds, Pa., Cocalico) came in fourth in the 60 meter prelims with a CC-qualifying time of 7.15 seconds to qualify for the finals. He finished seventh in the finals with another CC-qualifying time of 7.25 seconds.
  • Robby Allen (Sparta, N.J.) competed in high jump finishing 19th with a CC-qualifying height of 1.70 meters.
THE INSIDE STORY
  • Asher Leuzzi (Weston, Conn., Weston) placed fourth in the 3,000 with a season-best time of 9:09.33.
  • Hunter, Carter Harff (Pittsford, N.Y., Pittsford Mendon), Gabriel Diaz (Orlando, Fla., Winter Park), and Nunez-Castaneda combined to finish fifth in the 4x400 relay with a season-best time of 1:34.36.
  • The quartet of Magill, Mick Lorenger (Alexandria, Va., Thomas Edison), Isaac Parks-Gill (Lewistown, Pa., Mifflin County), and Jayden Craig (Westminster, Md., Westminster) came in ninth in the 4x400 relay with a season-best time of 3:43.53.
  • Mick Lorenger (Alexandria, Va., Thomas Edison) finished 12th in the mile with a season-best time of 4:39.20.
  • Nick Glass (Haworth, N.J., Northern Valley Regional-Demarest), Tyler Trout (Chester Springs, Pa., Owen J. Roberts), Takahashi, and Kyle Northrup (New Hope, Pa., New Hope-Solebury) combined to come in 14th in the 4x200 relay with a season-best time of 1:40.77.
  • Stefano Orlando (Norwalk, Conn., New Canaan) came in 16th in long jump with a season-best leap of 5.79 meters. He added another season-best with his 55th place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:40.65.
  • Andrew Ersin (Wynnewood, Pa., Lower Merion) placed 17th in the 3,000 with a season-best time of 9:46.48. Matthew Wagner (Downingtown, Pa., Downingtown STEM Academy) finished behind him in 19th with his own season-best time of 9:49.21.
  • Isaac Parks-Gill (Lewistown, Pa., Mifflin County) finished 21st in the 400 with a season-best time of 56.45 seconds. He added another season-best time of 25.84 seconds to place 64th in the 200.
  • Jayden Craig (Westminster, Md., Westminster) came in 26th in the 800 with a season-best time of 2:07.88.
  • Matthew Kurek (Trappe, Pa., La Salle College) competed in the 3,000 with a season-best time of 10:23.41 to finish 27th.
  • Ben Cole (Wilmington, Del., Archmere Academy) placed 31st in the 5,000 with a season-best time of 17:10.65.
  • Grant Lefchak (Hamilton, N.J., Steinert) finished 45th in weight throw with a season-best toss of 7.76 meters. He also competed int weight throw coming in 55th with a season-best distance of 9.39 meters.
  • Henry Mahoney (Saco, Maine, Thornton Academy) came in 47th in shot put with a season-best toss of 10.08 meters. He also finished 39th in weight throw with a throw of 9.18 meters.
  • Colin Carpenter (Ridgefield, Conn., Wooster School) competed in the 5,000 finishing 22nd with a time of 16:39.42.
  • Carter Harff (Pittsford, N.Y., Pittsford Mendon) placed 28th in the 60 meter prelims with a time of 7.45 seconds however, he did not start in the finals.
  • Kyle Northrup (New Hope, Pa., New Hope-Solebury) finished 32nd in the 200 with a time of 24.29 seconds.
  • Nick Glass (Haworth, N.J., Northern Valley Regional-Demarest) came in 36th in the 60 meter prelims with a time of 7.55 seconds however, he did not start in the finals.

The Bullets head to Selinsgrove for the River Hawk Showdown hosted by Susquehanna on February 6th at 3:00 pm.
