THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg had five of its 10 wrestlers finish in the top two to lead the way to a second-place finish at the 2026 Centennial Conference championship hosted by Merchant Marine. The Bullets scored 87.5 points. The second-place finish was the highest for Gettysburg since 2000.
THE LEADERS
•
Brendan Callahan (Woolrich Twp., N.J./Kingsway Regional), the top seed at 141, opened his quest to his first individual title with a 15-0 technical fall in the opening round before notching a 4-minute, 36-second fall in the semifinals. In the title tilt, Callahan recorded an 18-4 major decision over Ursinus' Andrew Schaen.
• At 157,
Gavin Pascoe (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) started his day with a 16-1 second-period technical fall. In the semifinals, Pascoe got a 4-1 win in the first tiebreaking period before earning a 7-0 decision over the Bears' Braden Kmak in the championship bout.
FOR THE FOES
• Behind three champions and three second-place finishes, Ursinus won its conference-leading 14th championship. The Bears needed to win three of the last four title bouts to overcome a deficit to Gettysburg and win by six points with 93.5 points.
THE REST OF THE STORY

Torey Falkinburg (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan),
Jake Mitchell (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and
Justin Richey (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) all also advanced to the title match for Gettysburg before falling to the respective top seeds to finish second.
• Falkinburg notched two wins by decision in his first two matches at 133. He downed McDaniel's Neil Sharma 13-6 before downing Ursinus' Blaise Verdino 4-2 in the semifinals. In the championship bout, Wesley Wydick (Merchant Marine) earned an 8-1 win over Falkinburg for the title.
• Mitchell had a bye in the opening round at 149 before notching a 7-4 decision in the semifinals but fell to McDaniel's Thomas Monn, who was named the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament, by technical fall, 17-1.
• Richey had a pair of match termination wins to advance to the final round. He recorded a 16-0 technical fall just four seconds into the third period in the opening match before downing Andrew Huesgen (Merchant Marine) in a 1-minute, 2-second pin. Ursinus' Anthony Cerulli got the better of Richey with a 15-0 technical fall in the title match.

Noah Hinkel (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) and
Simon Taylor (Alexandria, Va./Woodbury Forest School) bookended the championship round with third-place finishes. Hinkel opened with a bye before falling to Michael Adams (Ursinus) 17-6 in the semifinals. Hinkel then won the consolation semifinal in sudden victory 2-1 before defeating Merchant Marine's Cayden Farver 8-0 in the third-place bout. Taylor also had an opening-round bye before falling to McDaniel's Kaden Bryan 15-7 in the semis. Taylor advanced to the third-place match with a medical forfeit in the consolation semis before recording a 5-2 decision over Jake Pomykata (Johns Hopkins) to place third.
• The remaining three Gettysburg wrestlers all finished fourth. At 165,
Ean Wilson (Gardners, Pa./Boiling Springs) went 2-2 with a 10-2 major decision in the first round and a 23-11 major decision in the consolation semifinals. At 184,
Joseph Dietz (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) had a win in the consolation semifinals 8-3 over Merchant Marine's Aidan Dugan. At 197,
Phil Nave (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.) had two wins. He opened with a 16-1 technical fall and notched a 1-minute, 47-second fall in the consolation semis.
