LANCASTER, Pa. –
Amanda Rapel (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg), a sophomore on the Gettysburg women's basketball team, has been named Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 9-15.
It is the first time in her career she has earned the weekly honor.
Rapel led the Bullets to a 2-0 week and into the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. She averaged 18.5 points over the two games. On Wednesday, she netted her second career 20-point again in a 69-60 win at Dickinson. She added three rebounds, two assists and a steal to her 20 points. In an 89-59 home win over Haverford on Saturday, she tallied 17 points in just 20 minutes, shooting 7 of 10 from the floor with three rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot. She shot 60 percent for the week and went 4-for-4 from the stripe.
For the season, she is fourth on the team in scoring at 7.2 points per game. She has hit a team-high 20 3-pointers to go with 39 assists, 20 steals and 54 rebounds.
Gettysburg returns to action at home against McDaniel on Wednesday. Game time is 6 p.m.
