LANCASTER, Pa. – Alex Bergen (Potomac, Md./Good Counsel), a sophomore on the Gettysburg baseball team, has been named Centennial Conference (CC) Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 9-15.

It is the first time in his career he has earned the weekly honor.

Bergen made two appearances in relief on the week, throwing six shutout innings. He allowed just one hit and walked one while striking out seven in those two appearances. He picked up the win in relief against Monmouth on Thursday that included striking out the side in the ninth inning. Opponents hit just .053 off him on the week.

For the season, he has thrown 7.0 innings in four appearances with 10 strikeouts and three walks.

Gettysburg returns to action at York (Pa.) on Wednesday. Game time is 3 p.m.
