THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg forged ties but dropped its first two games of the NFCA Leadoff Classic, falling to No. 14 Huntington 12-3 in five innings and Spalding 10-8 in eight innings.

THE LEADERS
Zoe Brennan (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) led the Bullets with three hits and three RBIs in game two.

FOR THE FOES
• Kate Dinkel led the Hawks with a 3-for-3 day with a double, two runs scored and five RBIs.
• Carsyn Sidebottom led the Golden Eagles with four hits and three runs scored.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Huntingdon drew back-to-back walks to lead off the bottom of the first before a two-out Kate Dinkel single up the middle made it a 1-0 game.
• A hit by pitch and Maddie Grace Hubbard infield single started the home third. With one out, Kylie Stephens walked to load the bases before Dinkel doubled to the gap to stretch the lead to 3-0.
• A pair of errors in the fourth plated Gettysburg's first run and cut the deficit to 3-1 before the Bullets tied the game in the fifth. An error, Audrey Bergan (Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif./La Jolla Country Day School) infield single and walk loaded the bases with one out. Morgan DeFreitas (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown West) then walked to force in a run before a fielder's choice tied the game.
• The Hawks, however, ended the game early with a nine-run bottom of the fifth. Three one-out walks loaded the bases before a sacrifice fly broke the tie with the second out. Two walks, two errors and a pair of singles scored the final eight runs for the 12-3 final.
• With one out in the first inning, Carsyn Sidebottom singled and stole second before scoring on a passed ball to stake Spalding to a 1-0 lead. Three more walks and a passed ball extended the lead to 3-0.
• Two walks, a passed ball and fielder's choice cut the margin to 3-1 in the bottom of the first before Spalding got that run back in the top of the second.
• A Jamie Shaw (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg) RBI groundout scored Zoe Brennan (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) to make it 4-2 after two.
• Doubles from Abby Todd (Roebling, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) and Brennan led to three runs in the home third to give the Bullets a 5-4 lead.
• A one-out single and back-to-back RBI doubles from Bianca Ward and Breanna Billups turned the one-run deficit into a one-run lead in the fifth but Gettysburg tied the game once again on a Brennan RBI single up the middle with two outs in the bottom of the frame.
• Spalding used an Emma Eaton RBI double and a bases-loaded two-out walk to take an 8-6 lead in the sixth before a two-out wild pitch and RBI groundout tied the game in the bottom of the seventh.
• An error on the first batter of extra innings scored two runs for the 10-8 final.

THE INSIDE STORY
Anika Pelekis (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) also had three hits against Spalding.
