ARLINGTON, Va. – Sophomore
Parker Delmolino tallied the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to push Gettysburg College past Marymount University 2-1 in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday night.
After posting two goals in the final 10 minutes in a 2-1 win at Haverford College last Saturday, Gettysburg (6-7-1) opted for some more late heroics at Marymount (3-10-2). The Saints tied the contest 1-1 in the 79th minute as Onar Yousefi lifted a shot over Bullet goalie
Jamie Hahn.
Just over four minutes later, Delmolino picked an opportune time for his first goal of the fall, blasting a shot from the middle of the box to give Gettysburg the advantage. Hahn turned away a final shot by Marymount to preserve the victory.
Neither team managed a shot on goal in the opening period with the Bullets taking the lead on an own goal by the hosts. A cross from the right was knocked into the cage by a Marymount defender 17 minutes into the contest.
Marymount led in shots 10-7, while Gettysburg held the advantage in corner kicks at 3-1. Hahn finished the night with four saves to earn the win.
Gettysburg travels to Muhlenberg College for a Centennial Conference match up on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.
