ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Senior Adrienne Rahs broke the school's single-season record for RBI and tied the Centennial Conference mark for career doubles as the Gettysburg College softball team earned a split at Elizabethtown College on Wednesday.

Gettysburg (19-14) dropped the opener 5-2 to Elizabethtown (23-15) despite a two-run home run by Rahs. The Bullets rebounded in the nightcap led by their senior leader as her first-inning home run broke the RBI record and kicked off an 8-0 victory.

Rahs finished 5-for-6 with three runs, two doubles, two home runs, and three RBI. Her solo shot in the nightcap gave her 41 RBI on the season, passing Mandy Wilson '02 for the top spot. She added her second double of the day in her final at bat to move into a tie with Gettysburg head coach Sam Abrams for the number one position on the Centennial's career list. Abrams, who was a four-time all-conference selection at McDaniel College, and Rahs sit atop the list with 44 career two-baggers.

The victory in the nightcap was also the 99th of Abrams' coaching career. She will go for win No. 100 and Rahs will go for the doubles record in the conference finale at Haverford College on Saturday, April 28, at 1 p.m.

Gettysburg opened the day in strong fashion as senior Catrina DelGais singled to center and came around to score on Rahs' two-run blast to left. Elizabethtown pitcher Julie Sebastian settled in after that, retiring each of the next eight batters before s single by Rahs to start the fourth.

The Blue Jays answered Gettysburg's call with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Two more would come across in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk to Becky Becher and a run-scoring single by Lindsey Cooper to finish the scoring.

The Bullets put runners in scoring position in each of the final three at bats, including a lead-off triple by junior Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) in the seventh. Sebastian closed the door each time en route to her 16th victory of the season.

Gettysburg bounced back with a five-inning decision in game two. Rahs started the scoring with her sixth home run of the spring to center field. The solo shot left her one shy of the single-season record for home runs held by teammate Maggie Maguire.

The Bullets added five more unearned runs in the following inning with freshman Melissa Tighe providing a run-scoring single and then scoring on a double by Maguire to set the score at 6-0.

After connecting on a double with two outs in the fourth, Rahs came around to score on a fielding error. Gettysburg added its final tally on a single by junior Katie Lang in the fifth.

Junior Taylor Snyder allowed only three hits and two walks en route to her first shutout of the season. Rahs finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and Lang was 2-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch.
