LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior pitcher
Aileen Reilly (Huntington Station, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was named to the Centennial Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year in softball for the second consecutive season.
Reilly grabbed the award after posting the highest cumulative GPA among all-conference selections this spring. The Organization and Management Studies major dominated league play with a 7-1 record, a 1.21 ERA, two shutouts, and 37 strikeouts in 58 innings of work. She was named CC Pitcher of the Year for the second year in a row and earned her fourth-straight nod on the All-CC First Team. Reilly was also named All-Atlantic Region Second Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Wednesday.
Reilly closed her career as the program's all-time leader in wins (56), appearances (100), games started (90), and innings pitched (570.1). She finished second all-time in complete games (69), strikeouts (433), and shutouts (19). Reilly also tossed a perfect game against SUNY Canton in 2017.
Gettysburg went 25-16 overall and 14-2 in conference play. The Bullets won three elimination games in the CC Championship to win their first title in 11 seasons. The squad advanced to the NCAA Division III Regional Championship for the first time since 2007 and defeated Messiah College before losing by a run to No. 11 Christopher Newport University in an elimination game.
