Megan Wojnar ’22 lands first-team honors

2022 CC All-Centennial Conference Women's Swimming Team

LANCASTER, Pa. – Three-time Centennial Conference champion Megan Wojnar (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) was one of seven Gettysburg College women's swimmers selected to the all-conference team it was announced on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Wojnar was the lone first-team selection, earning the honor by winning the 200 backstroke for the second time in her career. The 2020 champion in the event, the Gettysburg senior out-ran the competition in the final race at the CC Championship meet by over a second with a time of 2:06.85. Wojnar, who also won the 400 IM in 2020, finished her career as a six-time all-conference selection and set school records in the 200 back (2:05.38) and 400 IM (4:32.68).

Wojnar also earned all-conference honorable mention as part of the 800 free relay. She was joined by freshman Ava Collin (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), junior Lauren Manning (West Hartford, Conn./Conard), and freshman Mia Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven). The quartet took runner-up with a time of 7:43.68, just 0.08 seconds behind Swarthmore College. The time was the third-fastest in program history. Manning, who was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team this season, earned her second career all-conference honor, while Yancey picked up their first all-league accolade in the 800 free relay.

Collin was named All-CC Honorable Mention in the 100 free. The first-year swimmer put down the second-fastest time in program history (52.14) on the way to a runner-up showing behind a championship meet record by Sophie Lear from Ursinus College.

Gettysburg's final all-conference performance was turned in by the 400 medley relay. Collin served as the anchor with freshmen Lindsay Blake (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) and Olivia Pyott (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and junior Annabel Gorman (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) accounting for the first three legs. The foursome produced the second-fastest time in school history at 3:53.86 and finished second behind Swarthmore in the race. Blake, Pyott, and Gorman achieved all-conference status for the first time.

First-place finishers at the CC Championship were designated first-team all-conference selections, while swimmers that finished runner-up earned honorable mention.
