Toner announces men’s lacrosse captains for 2025

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg men's lacrosse head coach Peter Toner has announced the team's captains for the 2025 season.

Senior Frank Barbera (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), senior Jack Dunleavy (New Providence, R.I./Seton Hall Prep), junior Will Hedley (Charlotte, N.C./The Hotchkiss School) and senior Andy Marquet (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) will lead the Bullets for the upcoming season.

Barbera, Dunleavy and Marquet are all captains for the second straight season.

Barbera, a defender, was a first-team All-Centennial Conference (CC) selection in 2024 for the second straight season. An honorable mention All-American, he started all 18 games and was second on the team with 29 caused turnovers, picking up 47 ground balls. He also scored a goal in the conference semifinal win at Swarthmore while chipping in three assists. Against Muhlenberg on Apr. 13, he picked up seven ground balls and had four caused turnovers.

Dunleavy, a midfielder, was first-team All-CC selection a year ago. An honorable mention All-American, he started all 18 games and led the team with 62 points. His 35 goals were second on the team while his 27 assists led the way. He also added 32 ground balls and six caused turnovers. He recorded 11 multi-goal games eight games with four or more total points, including a four-goal, four-assist outing at Ursinus on Mar. 23.

Hedley, a long-stick midfielder, was a first-team All-CC honoree last year. An honorable mention All-American, he started all 18 games, picking up a team-high 66 ground balls. He was fourth on the team with 25 caused turnovers. The long-pole also contributed six goals and four assists to the offense. He had two games with seven ground balls, including in the conference championship game at Dickinson.

Marquet, a defender, was a second-team All-CC selection each of the last two seasons. Starting all 18 games, he led the team with 33 caused turnovers. He also picked up 54 ground balls and recorded an assist against Franklin & Marshall on Apr. 10. He had eight games this season with four or more ground balls.

The 2025 season opens at Lynchburg on Saturday, Feb. 15. Game time is 1 p.m.
