Carnegie Mellon uses depth to down Gettysburg

THE SKINNY STORY
Carnegie Mellon, ranked 15th, only won six of the 14 events but had two of the top three finishers in eight of the 12 individual events to defeat No. 21 Gettysburg, 152-110.

THE LEADERS
• Mia Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) led the Bullets with three totals wins, including touching first in the 200 freestyle (1:56.69) by 0.1 seconds and the 100 freestyle (53.70 seconds).

FOR THE FOES
• Audrey Soetanto led the Tartans with two victories, winning the 200 fly (2:08.38) and 400 IM (4:38.16).
• Four other individuals won races – Grace Malinger (50 free, 25.17), Allie Kim (200 back, 2:09.35), Sophie Ellott (500 free, 5:14.48) and Natalia Evans-Gibson (100 fly, 59.39).

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Mia Morreale (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn), Maya Knoller (Bernardsville, N.J./Newark Academy), Kristen Racicot (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) and Mia Yancey opened the day with a win the 200 medley relay, combining for a time of 1:50.00 and start a run of five straight first-place finishes for Gettysburg.
• Ava Berry (Raleigh, N.C./Sanderson) won the 1000 free with a time of 10:46.82 before Yancey's win in the 200 free.
• Lanie McKenzie (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) touched first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.29 seconds while Morreale was third (1:00.39).
• Olivia Pyott (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:07.15 while Knoller placed third (1:08.49). Pyott later made it a clean sweep of the breaststroke, touching first in the 200 with a time of 2:25.34.
• Delaney Reck (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and McKenzie went 2-3 in the 50 free with times of 25.18 and 25.28 seconds, respectively.
