Gettysburg closes semester with invitational win

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau to win its own Gettysburg Invitational with 1,043 points. The Bullets claimed victory in 10 events over the three sessions.

THE LEADERS
Olivia Pyott (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) led the Bullets on the weekend with individual victories in both breaststroke events, including a program record and NCAA B-Cut in the 200 on Saturday night.

FOR THE FOES
• Montclair State finished second in the six-team invitational with 780 points.

FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS:
Ava Collin (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), Maya Knoller (Bernardsville, N.J./Newark Academy), Mia Morreale (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) and Mia Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) opened the session with a win in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:34.71. The quartet of Delaney Reck (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington), Caitlyn Evans (Belford, N.J./Red Bank Catholic), Olivia Evans (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) and Bramley Hawkins (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) clocked a time of 1:38.61 to place fourth.
Caitlyn Evans finished third in the 500 free with a time of 5:16.55 while Paige McKim (Robesonia, Pa./The King's Academy) was right behind her in fourth place with a time of 5:18.15. Lindsay Blake (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) also added a top-eight finish, placing seventh with a time of 5:21.21.
Emma Anderson (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset), Ava Berry (Raleigh, N.C./Sanderson) and Maggie Sedlak (Darien, Conn./Darien) went 2-3-4 in the 200 IM. Anderson turned in the No. 6 time in program history with a mark of 2:09.25 while Berry's time of 2:10.06 is eighth in program history. Sedlak rounded out the trio with a time of 2:11.56. Olivia Pyott and Kristen Racicot (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) placed sixth (2:12.90) and seventh (2:12.92).
• Gettysburg put seven swimmers in the top 10 of the 50 free. Yancey placed third (24.07 seconds) while Collin was fourth (24.14) and Knoller placed fifth (24.15). Morreale (24.40, seventh), McKenzie (24.52, eighth), Olivia Evans (24.58, ninth) and Reck (24.64, 10th) rounded out the group.
• Morreale, Knoller, Racicot and Collin combined to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:51.39, which ranks fourth in program history is less than a second off the NCAA B-Cut mark. The B-relay of Blake, Pyott, Sedlak and Reck was next home, placing second with a time of 3:57.01.

SATURDAY MORNING HIGHLIGHTS
Audrey Csokmay (Potomac, Md./Richard Montgomery), Maya Knoller, Lanie McKenzie (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) and Ava Collin opened the second session with a victory in the 200 medley relay, posting a time of 1:46.10 to rank fifth in program history. Lindsay Blake, Olivia Pyott, Kristen Racicot and Delaney Reck finished third in a time of 1:48.18.
Emma Anderson won the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.42 while Paige McKim placed eighth with a time of 4:50.59.
Kristen Racicot and Mia Yancey went 2-3 in the 100 butterfly. Racicot turned in a time of 57.98 seconds for the No. 6 time in program history. Yancey posted a time of 58.62 seconds in the first time she swam the event this season.
Ava Berry won the 200 free with a time of 1:55.48 while McKenzie was second with a time of 1:56.50. Collin clocked a time of 1:56.70 to place fourth and Caitlyn Evans came home in a time of 1:57.55 to finish fifth.
• Pyott won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.70, which betters her previous best by nearly 0.2 seconds and ranks second in program history.
• Reck won the 100 backstroke in a time of 59.16 seconds while Olivia Evans was fifth (1:00.34) and Csokmay was sixth (1:00.84).
• Yancey, Olivia Evans, Berry and McKenzie finished the session with a win in the 800 free relay, clocking a time of 7:49.16 which ranks eighth in program history. Anderson, Sedlak, Caitlyn Evans and Blake were third in a time of 7:59.81.

SATURDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS:
Ava Berry opened the final session with a win in the 1650 free, registering a time of 17:38.12 to win by nearly five seconds. Caitlyn Evans placed third with a time of 18:08.87.  
Lanie McKenzie and Maggie Sedlak went 2-3 in the 200 backstroke. McKenzie turned in a time of 2:08.43 while Sedlak came home in a time of 2:09.04. Ava Collin (fifth, 2:10.86) and Lindsay Blake (sixth, 2:11.55) also had top-six finishes.
• Gettysburg placed five swimmers in the top eight of the 100 free. Yancey was second in a time of 51.88 seconds while Mia Morreale was just behind her in third with a time of 52.70. Maya Knoller was fifth (52.37), Olivia Evans was seventh (54.20) and Delaney Reck was eighth (54.68) to round out the quintet.
Olivia Pyott highlighted the final session with a victory in the 200 breaststroke, turning a program-record and NCAA-B Cut time of 2:19.58. It is the top ranked time in the Centennial Conference this season by more than four seconds. The time displaced Katie Cooper's 2020 record from the top spot in program history. Audrey Csokmay and Emma Anderson placed fourth (2:28.14) and fifth (2:30.37), respectively.
Kristen Racicot led the way in the 200 butterfly with a second-place finish and time of 2:09.68. Paige McKim placed sixth with a time of 2:16.52.
• The 400 free relay of Gabby Lombardi, Berry, Caitlyn Evans and Sedlak placed sixth with a time of 3:45.87.
