THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg had three wrestlers finish in the top eight of their respective weight classes to lead the way at the 2024 NCAA Div. III Southeast Regional hosted by Lycoming. The Bullets finished with 38 team points.

THE LEADERS
• Ethan Composto (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) had the highest placefinish for Gettysburg, placing seventh at 149. After starting with an opening round bye, Composto recorded an 11-1 major decision win over Delaware Valley's Greg Croce. In the quarterfinals, eventual champion Taylor Smith (Washington & Jefferson) notched an 11-4 win to knock Composto to the consolation bracket. Composto made it to Saturday's action with a 7-2 win over Messiah's Noah Rice before falling to the seventh-place match by virtue of a Pasquale Vizzoni (Stevens) 8-2 decision. Composition then won 9-6 in the first sudden-victory period over Jarrod Pominville of Roanoke for seventh place.
• Luke Kowalski (Derwood, Md./St. John's College) finished eighth at 141. His weekend started with back-to-back falls in the opening two rounds. He downed Delaware Valley's Ryan Kelly in 1:27 before falling Marymount's Kadin Smith in 1:41. In the quarterfinals, Mark Samuel (Roanoke) sent Kowalski to the consolation bracket with a 5-0 win. Kowalski recorded his third pin of the weekend in his first match of the consolation bracket, taking down Jake Brown (Penn State-Behrend) in 1:42. On day two, Kelly exacted revenge with an 18-15 with before Jack Bauer (Wilkes) won an 11-2 bout over Kowalski for seventh place.
• Justin Richey (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) also placed eighth at 165. After starting with a bye, Logan Bartlett (Lycoming) used a 2-1 win in the first tiebreaker period to immediately send Richey to the consolation bracket, where he won his first three bouts. After a 12-0 win over Jiovanni DeChicchis (W&J), Richey notched falls in 1:41 and 1:11 before Mark Troni (Washington and Lee) got a pin of his own over Richey 39 seconds into the second period. In the seventh-place bout, Bartlett downed Richey for the second time on the weekend, 4-2.

FOR THE FOES
• Stevens won the 22-team regional with 164.5 points, outdistancing Averett by 18 points.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Phil Nave (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.) recorded a pair of wins in the consolation bracket at 197. After falling 18-2 late in his first bout, Nave pinned Conrad Sund (Marymount) in 1:10 and Ethan Froagoso (Ferrum) in 1:09 before his weekend ended with a 6-minute, 37-second fall to Averett's Jamar Christian.
• James Doliscar (Bayshore, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) went 2-2 at 184. His Friday started with an 8-3 win in the opening round over Loyal Holm (Southern Virginia) before Nicholas Hall (Delaware Valley) sent Doliscar to the consolation bracket with a 21-second pin. Doliscar recorded a 2-minute, 48-second fall of Julian Rodriguez (Greensboro) in his first wrestleback match before falling to Jaden Field (W&J) by fall in 1:34.
• At heavyweight, Simon Taylor (Alexandria, Va./Woodberry Forest School) dropped a 9-0 major decision in his first match before defeating Shenandoah's Daniel Basil-Barker 6-0 in the consolation bracket. Hayden Benner (Messiah) then recorded a 2-0 win to end Taylor's run.
• Gavin Pascoe (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) started with a 5-4 win over Tyler Ramirez (Ferrum) at 157 before Martin Ohlsson (Penn State-Behrend) pinned Pascoe in 1:02. Lycoming's Wiley Kahler then pinned Pascoe midway through the second period of his first consolation bracket bout.
