LANCASTER, Pa. –
Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/Beaumont School) and
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck), seniors on the Gettysburg volleyball team, have been named Centennial Conference (CC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Oct. 20-26.
It is the sixth time Huegel has claimed the weekly honor in her career and first time this season. For Radolovic, it is the first time in her career she has earned the recognition.
Radolovic led the Bullets (15-8, 4-2 CC) to a 2-0 week, averaging 3.75 kills per set and hitting .490 on the week. In a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Dickinson on Wednesday, she recorded her first 20-kill performance of the season with 20 kills and hit .567 with just three errors in 30 swings. She also had five digs and a block. In a 3-0 win at Muhlenberg on Saturday, she added 10 kills with just two errors. She also had two blocks and two digs.
Huegel had a huge week at the net. The senior middle averaged 2.25 blocks per set, totaling 18 in just eight sets while also adding 2.63 kills per set. In a 3-2 win over Dickinson on Wednesday, she became the first Bullet player since 2010 to record a double-double with kills and blocks, contributing 15 kills and a career-high 10 total blocks. She also hit .481 in the match with just two errors in 27 attack attempts. In a 3-0 win at Muhlenberg on Saturday, she chipped in another eight blocks to go with six kills. She also added three aces and seven digs on the week.
For the season, Radolovic leads the team with 189 kills and is hitting .218 on the year. She also has 26 blocks and 60 digs. Huegel leads the team with 81 total blocks and is third on the squad with 139 kills. Her 1.17 blocks per set leads the conference. She also has 20 aces.
Gettysburg returns to action at McDaniel on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
