Gettysburg closes dual schedule with win over Hopkins

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg won two of the last three matches to seal a 24-18 win over Johns Hopkins.

THE LEADERS
Phil Nave (Venetia, Va./Peters Twp.) clinched the match for the Bullets, recording a first-period fall to turn a three-point edge into a nine-point lead with one bout remaining.

FOR THE FOES
• Connor Powell led the Blue Jays with a pin of his own at 174.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• After Noah Hinkel (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) earned a forfeit at 125, Duncan Sadler scored the final six points of the 133 bout for an 11-5 win to cut the margin in half. Brendan Callahan (Woolrich Twp., N.J./Kingsway Regional) pushed the lead back to six, earning a late takedown to secure a 7-0 win at 141. Ethan Composto (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) followed with a 19-4 technical fall to extend the lead to 14-3.
• Close wins from Freddy Primental and Chris Roybal closed the deficit to 14-9. Primental won 7-6 at 157 before Roybal avoided a late takedown attempt for a 5-3 win at 165. Connor Powell chose the offensive position to start the second period and turned that into a 3-minute, 28-second pin and 15-14 Blue Jay edge in the match.
Carson Pascoe (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) put the Bullets back in front by three with a 14-2 major decision at 184. Phil Nave found his way out of a near fall in the first period, turning his opponent to earn a reversal. He then got the necessary turn and earned a pin of his own in 2:28 to seal the victory.
