WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Gettysburg College junior Bobby Christopher (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) extended his win streak to 11 with a trio of victories at a quadrangular hosted by Wilkes University on Saturday, Jan. 30. The Bullets as a team were not as fortunate, dropping a trio of dual matches.

Gettysburg (3-10) suffered losses to a pair of nationally-ranked clubs to open the day. The Bullets fell 29-21 to Wilkes (21-5), ranked 15th in the latest Division III poll, before Kutztown University (13-3), rated 16th in Division II, handed them a 35-16 setback. The Orange and Blue closed the afternoon with a 34-10 loss to Plymouth State University (7-9).

Christopher anchored a successful afternoon for the bottom three positions in the Gettysburg lineup. Combined, junior Luke Mitchell (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City), freshman Marshall Puls (New York, N.Y./Hotchkiss), and Christopher won seven of nine bouts at 184, 197, and heavyweight, respectively.

The Bullets began the day on the right foot as sophomore Abe Evans (Dover, Pa./Dover) picked up his second fall of the season in just over four minutes at 125 over Wilkes' Taylor Stewart. After losing three-straight matches, senior Patrick Doherty (Garden City, N.Y./Chaminade) added another win for Gettysburg at 157, out-scoring Nathan White 5-2.

Wilkes clinched the match with wins at 165, 174, and 184 to pull ahead 29-9. Puls and Christopher ended the match with back-to-back pins, the first-year taking down Raymond Dungee in 1:25 and the junior pinning Justin Franiak in 1:11 for his team-best 10th fall of the season.

Kutztown won each of the first seven decisions before Mitchell put Gettysburg on the board with a major decision (10-2) over Eric Sergent at 184. Puls and Christopher each added forfeits to cap the match.

In the finale, Plymouth State mirrored Kutztown's match against Gettysburg by winning each of the first six matches to jump out 28-0. Junior DJ Neri (Fairfax Station, Va./W.T. Woodson) stopped the bleeding with his fourth major decision at 174, beating Peter Bronder 13-5. Mitchell tacked on a 4-3 decision at 184 and Christopher improved to 20-4 on the year with an 11-5 defeat of Jacob Gagnon.

Gettysburg will host its first match of the season for its next contest as Centennial Conference rival McDaniel College enters Bream Gym on Wednesday, Feb. 3, for a bout at 7 p.m.
