Gettysburg Bats Hot in Spring Break Sweep

Bullets down Gordon 12-1, 10-2

Junior Adrienne Rahs hit her fourth career home run Monday against Gordon.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Gettysburg rebounded from a tough opening weekend of competition to put up 22 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Gordon College on the opening day of the Snowbird Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Gettysburg (3-3), which dropped three of four contests at the Salisbury University Invitational over the weekend, got back on track with easy wins over Gordon. The Bullets took the opener 12-1 before taking game two 10-2 in six innings.

Junior Lanie Parr (Washington, D.C./Academy of the Holy Cross) posted her second consecutive quality start in the first game, holding Gordon to just one run on five hits while striking out six. She received plenty of offensive support as 11 Bullet batters recorded 15 base knocks. Junior Megan Lott (Beltsville, Md./Pallotti) provided the big blow with a two-run home run in the third inning as part of a 3-for-4 performance.

Junior Adrienne Rahs (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI, while freshman Maggie Maguire (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) kicked off a big day at the plate with three hits in five plate appearances. Sophomore Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) and senior Caitlin Bay (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata) each posted a pair of hits.

Gettysburg notched four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put an early end to the second game. Sophomore Taylor Snyder (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) picked up her first win of the campaign by allowing just two runs on five hits with one strikeout.

Rahs put the Bullets in front early by belting her first homer of the spring in the first inning. She reached base three times via the home run, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch and scored three times. Sophomore Sam Bader (York, Pa./Central York), freshman Jenn Soroka (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run), and Bay each tallied a pair of hits in the nightcap.

Maguire ended the two-game affair in a big way, knocking two doubles and one triple and driving in three runs. On the day, she was 6-for-9 with three runs, three doubles, one triple, and four RBI.

Gettysburg resumes action in Myrtle Beach with a doubleheader against Cardinal Stritch University on Tuesday, March 15, at 9 a.m.
