Hall of Athletic Honor
Playing on three of Gettysburg's finest football teams, he became a starting tackle his junior year and was one of the best the College has produced. He was awarded the coveted Philadelphia Maxwell Club Award for his outstanding play in a 46-20 win over Lafayette. He was presented his award by Bert Bell, Commissioner of the Natioal Football League. The three teams on which Kempton played won 20 games, lost four and tied one. He was given AP Honorable Mention All-American, was two-time All-State, and All-East and ECAC Player of the Week.
In three varsity years, he played a key role in Gettysburg outscoring its opponents 685 points to 257. He was also instrumental in holding the opposition to an average of 188 total yards in each of 25 games.
He began playing Lacrosse his sophomore year and was one of 30 candidates for the newly formed team. Playing defense, he started and lettered for two years and played a key part in the establishment of the program at Gettysburg.
He graduated from Gettysburg College with a major in health and physical education.
