Never has a basketball player from a small college received more recognition than Ron. The Associated Press named the 5'11" player to their "Small" All-America team - for those under 6-feet. He was selected the unanimous choice for two straight years on the All-State and All-East teams he was given honorable mention major college All-America on both the UPI and AP team; he was voted the most valuable visiting player to the city of Philadelphia, the first time the award was presented to a player who did not compete in the Paletra; he set an NCAA major college record for the most foul shots in a single game, scoring 22 of 22 against St. Joseph's and he tied Ohio State's Jerry Lucas for 10th place among college scoring leaders.

He has established school records for scoring and accuracy which have lasted well over three decades. He teamed with Bob Parker to form the finest backcourt combination in the country.
