Hall of Athletic Honor
On January 12, 1977, Cuddeback set his first school record in the 200-yard backstroke. By the time the 1976-77 season was over, he had posted a total of 14 program-record times and capped the season with an individual MAC championship in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The following season, at the 1978 NCAA championships, his trademark hard work paid off when he finished ninth in the 400-yard individual medley to become the first All-American in men's swimming history at Gettysburg. In 1979, he achieved All-America status again, both as an individual and with the Bullet 400-yard freestyle relay team. That performance helped the Bullets post a program-record 17th-place finish at the national meet.
As a team co-captain during the 1979-80 season, he won the 200 IM MAC championship in school-record time and earned his fourth straight trip to the NCAAs. He finished his collegiate career with 11 different team records.
A native of Rockville, Md., he graduated in 1980 with a degree in psychology.
