Curtis McNeil developed into a primetime player over four years on the hardwood. After appearing in 16 games as a freshman, the 6-0 guard raised his game in his encore season, finishing just under double-figures and helping the team win 15 games. He scored a season-high 27 points against Franklin & Marshall and led the team to wins at the Days Inn Tournament and the Greyhound Classic.
Â
As a junior, McNeil was named All-Centennial Conference First Team, All-Middle Atlantic Region Second Team, and All-ECAC South Region Honorable Mention. He led the team with 17.3 points per game and scored in double-figures in all but three games, including a season-high 31 against the Diplomats. McNeil steered the Bullets to a pair of road victories over Ursinus and Muhlenberg on the way to the program’s first-ever Centennial Conference title and a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Â
McNeil averaged a career-high 17.4 points per game in 2001-02 and repeated his status on the all-conference and all-regional squads. Once again, he victimized F&M for a career-high 35 points during the regular season and put up a combined 39 points in two league playoff games, leading Gettysburg to its second consecutive title and a bid to the big dance.
Â
McNeil finished his career among the top 10 in program history in points (6th, 1,210), steals (4th, 128), three-pointers made (3rd, 157), and free throws made (4th, 313).
