Coming out of Allentown, Pa., as a highly skilled high school basketball player, he joined one of the greatest groups of Gettysburg College players in the post World War II era. In his initial varsity season in 1950-51, he was the leading scorer in five games, including a College single-game record of 37 points in a win over Bucknell. He emerged as the team's third leading scorer in both his sophomore and junior years. An illness and a sprained ankle in his junior year did not keep him from being named to the second team Associated Press All-State team.

Pizolato completed his career the same way he started. He scored 18 points in a 100-79 win over Virginia, as Gettysburg set a new team scoring record. The final shot of his collegiate career fell through the cords with 10 seconds to play in a 79-78 win over F&M.

He graduated with a BA Degree, majoring in physics. He received the coveted Beacham Award and was named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
