Hall of Athletic Honor
Tommy Pearce has made it a common practice to lead his lacrosse teams into uncharted territory.
Pearce was an impact player across the field as a midfielder. After helping Gettysburg win the Centennial Conference title as a first-year, he snagged his first all-league honor after pouring in 40 points and leading the Bullets to another conference crown and the No. 1 national ranking in 1999. As a junior, Pearce filled the stat sheet with 44 points and 13 caused turnovers, scoring a point in every game and earning his first All-America award as a third-team selection. Gettysburg continued its reign atop the conference and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
A two-time team captain, Pearce accumulated all the accolades in a banner senior campaign in 2001, including CC Player of the Year and All-America First Team. He posted personal highs in all categories and he set a program record in the NCAA Tournament with eight points against Springfield. Pearce led the Bullets to the top of the Centennial and the team went on to make its first-ever appearance in the national title game.
Pearce finished his career with 91 goals, 56 assists, 147 points, 127 ground balls, and 41 caused turnovers. Gettysburg went 54-12 during his tenure, including a perfect 24-0 in conference play.
After graduation, Pearce returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach and helped lead the lacrosse team back to the national title game in 2009. Over the last decade, he has been instrumental in starting lacrosse programs at Frostburg State University and Allegheny College.
A native of Chestertown, Md., Pearce graduated from Gettysburg with a degree in English.
