Todd Peters led the men’s swimming program to historic heights during the 1990s.

Peters burst onto the swimming scene as a freshman and swept the Centennial Conference titles in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races. He also contributed to a trio of relay titles as Gettysburg swam off with the conference team title.

Peters racked up wins as his team continued to dominate the conference meet over the next two seasons. He won 34 races as a sophomore and junior, including his first conference championship in the 200-yard freestyle. Gettysburg wrapped up two more team titles as well.

The 1997-98 season witnessed the team’s and Peters’ full potential in the pool. The senior wrapped up conference titles in the 50, 100, and 200 free races on the way to being named Outstanding Performer of the Meet. He also contributed to a pair of conference-record breaking relays as the Bullets overpowered the field on the way to another team title. The run continued at the NCAA Division III Championships where Peters and his relay teammates swam off with All-America honors in three events, highlighted by a sixth-place showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay. He closed his career holding four conference records.

A native of Riverside, Conn., Peters graduated with degrees in sociology and anthropology.
