A mighty-mite at 130-pounds, he set rushing and scoring records which lasted well into the 21st century. He played football and lettered all four years. He led the 1953 football team to an 8-1 record, one of the best in the school's history. His leadership came by way of 662 yards rushing, which was second best among all players in the East. He was the leading scorer in the state of Pennsylvania with 107 points, a record which lasted four decades. He was named to the first team All-State and was invited to an unprecedented two trips to Philadelphia to receive the Maxwell Cup Award as the top college football player. He was named to the all-conference first team and he received honorable mention Little All-America. The highlight of his career came when he was invited to play with the Blue team in the annual Blue-Gray Senior Bowl in Montgomery, Ala.

Records he set included five touchdowns in a game, 56 TDs in a season, points in a game and points in a season.
