Hall of Athletic Honor
A two-sport standout during Gettysburg's golden age of athletics, Musser excelled as an unsung hero on the gridiron and a money-in-the-bank sprinter on the track.
He earned three varsity letters as an end on the Bullet football squad and was an integral part of a run-oriented program that went 20-5-1 during that span. As a junior in 1956, he played in all nine games and snared a victory-preserving interception in the final moments of Gettysburg's 12-6 win over Lafayette. The following season, he cracked the starting lineup and finished the year as an honorable mention to the Pennsylvania All-State team.
On the track, he was the Bullets' top runner in the 220-yard low hurdles and 440-yard dash, placing first or second in virtually every race during his collegiate career. He led the team in individual points in each of his first two varsity meets, including a career-high 13 points in his Bullet debut on Apr. 11, 1956 against Western Maryland. His consistent point scoring helped Gettysburg post a 16-11 record during his three seasons.
He capped his track career by finishing second in the 220 at the 1958 Middle Atlantic Conference championships with a program-record time of 24.5 seconds.
A native of Gettysburg, Pa., he graduated from Gettysburg in 1958 with a degree in physical education.
