Hall of Athletic Honor
The College president proclaimed March 5, 1955 as "Bones" Snyder Day in recognition of the stellar, three-year play of the versatile Bullet player. No other athlete has had a day named in his honor.
At 6'2" he was a premier performer. He spent a brief sojourn at North Carolina State before entering Gettysburg. He became the first player in the school's history to score more than 1,000 career points. His 1000th point came during a 31-point spree which helped Gettysburg upset Navy. He later scored 38 points in a game against NIT bound St. Francis and the Legendary Mourice Stokes. He completed three varsity years with 1,150 points. In addition to holding career and season scoring records, he also set the school marks for the most field goals attempted and made, free throws made and scoring average.
His rebounding vaulted after his sophomore year. He was the number two rebounder his final two seasons. However, he set the school career mark with 734 caroms. He proved to be a complete player by adding 41 assists his final year.
