Hall of Athletic Honor
A four-year letterwinner with both the Gettysburg field hockey and women's lacrosse teams, McHale made her greatest impact as a key member of the Bullets' 1980 field hockey team, to this day the College's only program to win a national championship.
During that magical season, she scored seven goals, including the overtime game-winner against Chico (Cal.) State in the national semifinals. The next day, her dominating offensive presence helped the Bullets defeat Hartwick 1-0 in double overtime to win the AIAW Division III crown. Following the 1980 and 1981 seasons, she was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Southern Division all-star team. As a senior, she scored a career-high 11 goals while serving as a team captain.
With the women's lacrosse team, she earned four varsity letters as an attack wing, scoring 39 goals during her career. In her junior season of 1981, she tallied a career-best 18 goals while helping the Bullets go 12-3 and finish fifth at the AIAW Division III tournament. As with field hockey, she was a team captain in her senior year.
Also a member of the women's basketball team for two seasons, she earned the Clair B. Noerr Award in 1982.
A native of Brookhaven, Pa., she graduated from Gettysburg in 1982 with a degree in psychology.
