Hall of Athletic Honor
As a freshman football player, he played every quarter at end. When he moved to varsity his sophomore year, his position also changed from end to center. As a senior, number 82 played every game. Regarded as the school's best offensive center in the first half century, he anchored a line which helped produce three straight winning seasons.
When it came to basketball, he was at his best. A leading point producer on the freshman team, he soon built a reputation as a good scorer and an aggressive player on the varsity. By his senior year, he was the leading scorer on the team and was eventually named to several all-opponent teams. He served as co-captain of the football team and captain of the basketball team in his senior year.
He was called to active duty twice, once in World War II and again in the Korean Conflict. He eventually returned to his Alma Mater to serve as assistant football coach, then head coach and finally director of athletics. He retired in August, 1984.
