Susan Cannon was a star among stars helping lead the field hockey and lacrosse programs to new heights.

Cannon was a two-year starter at right wing for the field hockey team. After contributing to a Middle Atlantic Conference title in 1979, she tallied a pair of goals and three assists during the program’s magical run to conference, regional, and national titles in 1980, including assisting on the game-winning goal against Elizabethtown in the EAIAW championship.

As a senior, Cannon emerged as one of the team’s top players and was selected All-MAC Southern Division First Team. The Bullets won the MAC Southwest League title for the third consecutive year and went on to finish fifth at the AIAW Division III Championship. She finished the season with three goals and two assists.

Cannon picked up a lacrosse stick for the first time ever at Gettysburg. In 1981, she helped the varsity team win a dozen games and capture the program’s first MAC championship. The Bullets went on to finish fifth at the national championship that year. Cannon tallied six goals in a dozen games in 1982.

A native of Meadowbrook, Pa., Cannon graduated from Gettysburg with a degree in biology.
