The first Bullet to score 50 goals in a season and 100 in a career, Mitchell posted offensive numbers that remain among the best in program history more than two decades after he graduated with four scoring records. He teamed with fellow Hall of Athletic Honor inductees Costa Alvanos and Chris Boehmcke to form one of Gettysburg's top attacking trios of all time and deliver the Bullets' second Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) championship in 1983.

Starting immediately as a freshman in 1980, Mitchell scored 11 goals to help Gettysburg go 9-4 and reach the MAC championship game. The following year he ranked second on the squad with 26 goals and 42 points, including a nine-point performance against Lebanon Valley. During his junior campaign in 1982, he found the net 41 times and was named to the All-MAC second team.

As a senior Mitchell went off the charts, shattering program records with 50 goals, 38 assists and 88 points as the Bullets marched to the 1983 MAC championship. He was named the MAC most valuable player, tabbed as an All-America honorable mention and invited to the North/South Senior All-Star Game. He finished as Gettysburg's all-time leading goal scorer (128) and tied with Boehmcke for the most career points (197).

A native of Perryman, Md., he graduated from Gettysburg in 1983 with a degree in business administration
