This talented athlete from Marlton, N.J. went through a career change between her 1977 freshman year and 1981 graduation.

She made the varsity field hockey team her freshman year and started for three years as a forward. She was among the top scorers that first year, leading Gettysburg to a conference playoff berth. While playing field hockey, she was also dabbling in cross country which was not an official intercollegiate sport. At the end of her sophomore year, she entered the Middle Atlantic Conference cross country championship and did well, placing fourth in 19:43.

While still on the field hockey team as a junior, she also qualified for the national cross country championships in Florida. Placing 17th, she missed All-America status by two places. Abandoning field hockey her senior year she concentrated on running. Cross country was now official and Gettysburg placed third in the conference championships and she captured the individual title in 18:48. Her crowning moment came two weeks later when she became Gettysburg's first cross country All-America. She placed 14th in 18:42.
