One of the most decorated female athletes in Gettysburg College history, Jodi Lopiano earned four varsity letters each in softball and volleyball. She was also a three-time Middle Atlantic Conference Southwest All-Star in both sports.

On the volleyball court, she helped to establish the Bullets as one of the most successful Division III programs in the region. Over her four years, Gettysburg posted a record of 142-43 and made four straight MAC tournament appearances. Lopiano served as a team captain in 1987 and 1988, and in 1988 she led the team to what was then a school record with 40 victories.

Lopiano’s success was not limited to one venue or one season. She posted spectacular numbers both as a pitcher and a hitter for the Bullets’ softball squad. Her batting average increased each season until she hit .373 as a senior in 1989, and she was one of the most consistent pitchers Gettysburg ever saw.

As a junior, Lopiano struck out 69 batters, a record she held for 18 years, and won 13 games, which was also a long-standing record. She collected 10 shutouts in her career, including three in a row as a senior that included a no-hitter and two one-hitters.

A native of Carlisle, Pa., Lopiano graduated from Gettysburg in 1989 with a degree in economics.
