Hall of Athletic Honor
By the time he hit the water in November, 1968, to begin his sophomore year, he was touted as the greatest freestyler to ever come out of Gettysburg and he hadn't been in a competitive meet. He proved the experts correct. The phenomenon broke one school record after the other before packed houses. Following one year of competition, he held the school marks for the 50, 100, 200 and 500-freestyle events.
He went on to guide Gettysburg to the Little Three title in 1970 and in that same year helped the team post its first winning year in eight seasons. He was Gettysburg's first Middle Atlantic Conference place finisher in several decades.
The Penfield, N.Y. product and biology major graduated after establishing seven school records and was the team's leading point producer three years.
