Looming six feet, four inches tall and weighing in at more than 200 pounds, Strohecker spent three years clearing the way for some of Gettysburg's most exciting football players of the 1960's. Described as "a bundle of energy" who resided in the middle of every play, he was a key figure in the Bullets' climb to the 1964 Middle Atlantic Conference University Division championship.

A promising prospect from his arrival in 1961, Strohecker helped the freshman squad post a 4-1 record and assumed a regular varsity spot at tackle the following year. He appeared in every game to earn his first letter in 1962, then started every contest during his final two seasons.

Despite a slew of injuries that forced head coach Eugene Haas to dress fewer than 30 players, the 1963 Gettysburg squad battled to the program's first winning season in four years. Strohecker adjusted effortlessly to the coach's new passing attack that set numerous program records.

As a senior in 1964, he anchored the Bullets' 7-2 season that included an upset of top-ranked Delaware and the program's first conference crown in 23 years. For his efforts, Strohecker was selected as a Williamson Mid-Bracket All-America honorable mention.

A native of Trevorton, Pa., he graduated from Gettysburg in 1965 with a degree in health and physical education.
