Hall of Athletic Honor
He came to Gettysburg as a 5'6", 150-pound halfback on the football team and by the time he graduated with a degree in business administration, he had earned three varsity letters, not only in football, but three in basketball and three in baseball.
As a baseball player, he alternated between second base and the outfield. There were only two games in his senior year in which he failed to get a hit. He completed the year with a .341 average, highest in the league. It was during that final year that he helped beat Navy with his stolen bases and Penn State with his long-ball hitting.
He had an exceptional running day against F&M in 1932 only to lose 2-0. As a basketball player, he was the type of reserve who could come off the bench and either start a fire or stop one.
