Competing in two sports is a difficult task in itself, but being an award-winning and record-breaking competitor in both is a whole different level. That’s exactly what Pam Williams did over four years as a member of the field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams, racking up almost 300 points over the course of an All-American career.

In the fall, she accounted for 28 goals and three assists while helping the field hockey team to a 31-21-5 record over four years. She saved her best season for last, serving as the team captain and netting 14 goals, which would have been a new Bullet record if not for her teammate’s total of 19. She was tabbed all-conference and all-region at the conclusion of the 1987 season.

In the spring, Williams continued her offensive dominance, scoring in all but two of her 48 career lacrosse games. She was a three-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference selection and helped Gettysburg to the divisional championship in 1986. As a senior in 1988, Williams grabbed first-team All-MAC and All-America honors after leading the league in scoring. Overall, she finished her career ranked first in the Bullet annals in goals (185), assists (48), and points (233). Williams’ playing days didn’t end with Gettysburg either, as she went on to play for the U.S. national women’s lacrosse team from 1989 to 1991

A native of Maple Glen, Pa., Williams graduated from Gettysburg in 1988 with a degree in health and physical education.
