Hall of Athletic Honor
From the first time he put on a Bullet uniform in 1982 until the 1985 MAC championship, Alvanos scored at least one goal in every game he played as a Bullet attackman, 58 games in all. And in a lot of games, he scored a lot more than that.
At the time of his induction, he boasted the highest career goal total in program history (169) and the second-highest career point total in program history (213). He was one of the only three Gettysburg players to score 80 or more points in a season and 200 or more points in a career. On March 20, 1985 he scored a record-setting nine goals in a 20-3 win at Haverford. He went on to score 67 goals that season, another program record.
As a team captain in 1985, he led the Bullets to the Middle Atlantic Conference championship game. For his achievements, Alvanos was selected as a conference all-star all four years and earned a spot on the Division III All-America team in 1985.
A native of Annapolis, Md., he graduated in 1985 with a degree in business administration.
