Hall of Athletic Honor
He earned a total of nine varsity letters, three each in football, basketball, and baseball. During his freshman year, he scored two touchdowns to lead the football team to a 26-6 upset victory over F&M. Also in that initial year, he was the backup guard on the basketball team and as a catcher in baseball, scored the winning run in a 5-4 win over Penn State.
His accomplishments on the football field, as a junior, included an intercepted pass which he returned 75 yards for a 7-0 win over Muhlenberg for the conference title and recorded the longest punt return in the East with a 101-yard return. "Reds" ended his football career by helping the Bullets defeat Dickinson 49-7 in a Thanksgiving Day game in Hershey Stadium.
In 1947 he began a 29-year career in coaching and athletic administration in western Pennsylvania.
