Hall of Athletic Honor
If ever an athlete deserved the nickname "bullet", he was the one. He was the fastest human to ever attend Gettysburg. For three years he ran varsity track and played varsity soccer. Although he was a good soccer player, track was his top sport.
In three varsity years, he won 55 duel meet races, lost six, won seven conference titles, four NCAA Regional crowns and placed in the top four of the IC4A'S and Penn Relays. He was recognized by Sports Illustrated for his outstanding accomplishments.
As a sophomore, he was undefeated in the 100 and 220. He won the MAC championships in 9.5 for the 100 and 21.3 for the 220. He anchored the mile relay in another conference record time of 3:16.1. In 1965 he turned on the burners. He registered an all-time low of 9.4 seconds for the 100 - doing it three times. That year he ranked number three among all the sprinters in the country.
